 Moody Gardens is one of the premier sites to visit while in Galveston. It comprises of three spectacular glass pyramids, a luxurious hotel the Moody Gardens as well as a conference centre. It is surrounded by pristine beaches and the crystal like lagoon waters.
The main attraction at Moody Gardens is the Rainforest Pyramid which is a 10 storied structure covering an area of almost 40,000 square feet. It has a collection of flora and fauna found in the tropical rain forest. Apart from this, other major attractions at the Moody Gardens are the Discovery Museum, IMAX and Ridefilm Theatre and the Colonel Paddlewheel Boat.
The Palm Beach area is spread on a three acre area and contains fresh water lagoons, white sand beaches which are adorned with palm trees, spas and also the children's play area.
Schlitterbahn Water Park at Galveston is the third in line of water parks set up by the Schlitterbahn family since 1979. This park was destroyed by the Hurricane Ike but now it is fully operational. It has uphill water coasters, white water rapids, wave pools and the Boogie Bahn surf ride.
The Schlitterbahn Galveston Water Park also has the proud position of being the world's first convertible water park. It can be fully opened or closed for indoor or outdoor operation for the whole year through. |
